Hollywood actor John Cusack shares video of police who 'came at me with batons' during US protests

With more number of Hollywood celebs extending support for ‘Black Lives Matter’ as a black man named George Floyd lost his life due to police brutality, actor John Cusack shared a video of one of the protests that he became a part of over the weekend.

As situation got out of control in many areas of Los Angeles and neighbouring cities, John shared multiple pictures and videos as he stepped out to protest in Chicago over the death of George Floyd. 

The actor tweeted, "It’s nasty as fuck out there, everyone is on edge, things burning- open looting - Magnificent Mile- and all over.”

John Cusack had gone on a bike to be a part of the protests and as he filmed the loot and burning of cars, he said that police officers came at him. In the video, someone assumed to be an officer, can be heard yelling "Get the fuck out of here!" along with what sounds like a baton striking Cusack's bike multiple times. 

In a follow-up tweet with video, he wrote, "These were some of the peace officers - who gently tuned up my bike with their batons." 

Cusack also said police were using pepper spray on the crowd, which included press members. 

John added that what he saw was pure chaos. 

"Would be very surprised if this is a one or two day event / this may well be the beginning of end of [President Donald] Trump loathsome era - thank god - feels like many streams of outrage coming to a head- a wave peaking -Chicago scene was about getting to Trump Tower most of day," he tweeted. "Packing it in - I hope people try to stay safe  - it’s truly terrible out there - but that’s what I saw today." 

Meanwhile, amid the chaos, Quentin Tarantino-owned New Beverly Cinema was vandalized after a night of protesting in Los Angeles, specifically in the Fairfax District. The iconic theater on Beverly Boulevard was tagged with numerous messages, including "Fuck the police," according to pictures shared by the theater's director of operations Jules McLean.
