'Badhaai Ho' writers withdraw their name from popular awards nomination

‘Badhaai Ho’ is easily one of the biggest hits of last year with the star cast of the film receiving laurels for their acting along with the script that completely stood out. 

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Sanya Malhotra, the film was simple yet moving as it took upon a story that most people could connect to.

While everybody knew that the film will do extremely well at the various film awards, in a shocking development, the writers of the film, Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildial who received a nomination at Filmfare awards recently for ‘Best Original Story’ have withdrawn their names.

They withdrew their names after screenwriter Jyoti Kapoor’s name was added alongside them. The two released a statement on Twitter and informed the reason behind doing so. According to the statement, Shantanu and Akshat said that they would not like to share the award with someone who hasn’t worked on the film with them.

They said it was better for them to lose on the award but to share with someone who hasn’t worked with them on the film.  

Her name was dropped a couple of days earlier after the issue was raised but the duo writers said that they did not want to take a chance and have dropped their names.
