Ayushmann Khurrana on his films being remade in South: It's quite overwhelming and gratifying

Ayushman Khurrana's upcoming project 'Gulabo Sitabo' will now directly release on an OTT platform.

Over the years, Ayushmann Khurrana has established himself as the master of offbeat roles in Bollywood and has impressed the audiences with his versatility. The films have been so successful that now some of the actor's hits are being remade in the south in different languages. 

Khurrana 2019 hit 'Andhadhun' is being remade in Telugu and Tamil, while 'Dream Girl' is getting a remake in Telugu and actor Raj Tarun has confirmed to play the lead in the movie and Ayushman Khurrana debut movie 'Vicky Donor' has already been made in Tamil.

There is also discussion to remake Ayushmann's 'Article 15' in Tamil while 'Badhaai Ho' is being remade in Telugu.

"It is quite overwhelming and gratifying to know that so many of my films have been remade. I have always believed that the true test of cinema is in how universal it is because films have the power to transcend language, culture and borders as we have seen," Ayushmann said.

"I'm delighted to know this and it validates my content beliefs that I should be backing scripts which stand out and give something new to audiences in theatres'', he added. 

The actor thanked directors and writers for their brilliant work and bringing some of the finest work in Bollywood.

"Creativity is a collaborative process and I have been fortunate enough to form great artistic relationships with some of the most brilliant minds in the Hindi film industry. 

"I also credit all the visionary filmmakers and scriptwriters whose works are being remade as it shows the power of their ideas, which have appealed to audiences and filmmakers despite significant language barriers. I thank them for deciding to make me a part of their cinema," he added. 

On the work front, Ayushman Khurrana's upcoming project 'Gulabo Sitabo' which was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on April 12 but owing to nationwide lockdown is now getting a direct digital release on Amazon Prime on June 12. 

The upcoming movie is been helmed by Shoojit Sircar and also stars Amitabh Bachchan alongside Khurrana.
