New reports suggest that the film will probably hit $1 billion by the end of its run.

‘Aquaman’ makers have found the key to attract their audience to the film -- leading with the hunky actor Jason Momoa. With a massive female fan following for the actor, the film is now a hit on many fronts.

According to an American Media Measurement and Analytics company, Comscore, mothers turned out in far greater numbers than fathers, 56 per cent to 44 per cent. They enjoyed the aquatic superhero film more 91 per cent to 85 per cent.

After Wonder Woman, this is the first DC film that has been a hit with the audience. The film has grossed $105.7 million over the five-day holiday (including previews) taking the total to more than $500 million internationally.

What worked in their favour was the theme of women empowerment that ran pretty strong in the plotline. Similar to Gal Gadot in ‘Wonder Woman’, Jason Momoa delivered a passionate acting display in the film, by creating social media events.

Warner Bros. started a social media trend #MOMSFORMOMOA which was in response to the makers noticing a viral meme that grew among moms online -- wanting to take their kids –or anyone’s kids– to Aquaman as an excuse to see Momoa. As part of the stunt, mommy bloggers attended an advance screening with a surprise appearance by Momoa.

New reports suggest that the film will eventually reach north of $900 million and probably hit $1 billion’ by the end of its run. That’s between Rs 6300 crore and Rs 7000 crore.
