Continuing a loved film in the form of a sequel is always an exciting idea for the makers as well as the audience but it comes with an added responsibility of making the story more interesting than the first owing to the comparison that the new film will have to fare against the original.

We are talking about 'Aankhen' that originally starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles. Now the makers announce that a sequel is being planned and that Amitabh has already been roped in for the film.

Aneez Bazmee (who directed ‘No Entry’, ‘Mubarakan’) will be seen directing 'Aankhen' sequel. It will be produced by Tarun Agarwal and Eros International.

The film will go into production later this year and is scheduled to be released in January 2020.

Announcing the same on Twitter, Eros Now wrote: “Gear up for the new heist-thriller! @ErosIntlPlc & #TarunAgarwal to produce #Aankhen2 starring @SrBachchan. More big names to be announced soon in the ensemble cast, watch this space! Dir. by Anees Bazmee, film to go on floor in 2019 & release in January 2020 @ErosNow”

Although the other cast has not been revealed, a report in Mumbai-based daily revealed that Sushant Singh Rajput, Vicky Kaushal and Jackie Chan are being considered for key roles.

The original, 'Aankhen' revolves around the story of a fired bank official Vijay Singh Rajput played by Amitabh who plan on taking his revenge by planning a heist involving three blind men. It is an adaptation of Vipul Shah’s Gujarati play 'Andhalo Pato' (Blindman’s Buff). The cast also included Sushmita Sen, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Arjun Rampal.
