Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Priyanka Chopra share heartfelt tributes on Irrfan Khan's death

 He was reportedly admitted in the ICU due to a colon infection on Tuesday. 

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan died aged 53 today. Best known for his roles in films like ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘Maqbool’, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ among many others, the actor was admitted into ICU in Mumbai hospital after he was diagnosed with colon infection. 

Irrfan’s health had been weak ever since he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. He got treatment for his cancer in London and had returned to Mumbai in India recently. 

As news of his death came out, Bollywood celebs and his co-stars of previous films took to social media to pay a tribute to the actor. 

Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “T 3516 - .. just getting news of the passing of Irfaan Khan .. this is a most disturbing and sad news .. 🙏 An incredible talent .. a gracious colleague .. a prolific contributor to the World of Cinema .. left us too soon .. creating a huge vacuum ..Prayers and duas.”

Shah Rukh Khan shared a throwback picture of himself with the lat actor and wrote, "My friend...inspiration & the greatest actor of our times. Priyanka Chopra who also worked with Irrfan shared a photo from their film together and wrote, “The charisma you brought to everything you did was pure magic. Your talent forged the way for so many in so many avenues.. You inspired so many of us. #IrrfanKhan you will truly be missed. Condolences to the family.”

One of the first from the film fraternity to share the news of his death, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar wrote, "My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute."
