Karan Johar is now only following eight Twitter accounts.

Sushant Singh Rajput's death has sparked off a debate on nepotism in Bollywood yet again. Fans and several celebrities have accused the likes of Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra of favouring star kids over talented outsiders like Rajput.

Johar had mourned Rajput's death on social media soon after the news broke on Sunday. Since then the filmmaker has maintained a stoic silence even as many users have ruthlessly trolled him and other prominent Bollywood A-listers on Nepotism and not standing by Rajput in his time of crisis.

On Wednesday, Johar seemed to have unfollowed multiple accounts on Twitter. The backlash has not only plummet the number of his followers on social media he also mysteriously unfollowed hundreds of accounts on Twitter including accounts of prominent Bollywood actors- some of whom are known to be close to him.

Karan Johar is now only following eight Twitter accounts, out of which four belong to his production house Dharma and its CEO Apoorva Mehta. As for the other four, the accounts belong to three of the biggest superstars of India - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Along with Johar, his protege of sorts, Alia Bhatt too has been criticised by fans for making fun of Rajput. In an old video of Koffee With Karan that has surfaced online post the actor's death, Alia can be seen asking 'Who Sushant Singh Rajput?' to a rapid-fire question asked by Johar.

Alia's social media followers have reportedly dipped as well post Rajput's death.

Karan Johar and Sushant Singh Rajput had worked together in Tarun Manshukhani's long-delayed film 'Drive'. The movie was announced as a trilogy years back but ultimately released on Netflix and received negative reviews.

Earlier in the day, a lawyer in Bihar filed a criminal case against Johar , Aditya Chopra, Salman Khan and five other Bollywood celebrities in relation to Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
