Alia Bhatt joins 'Harry Potter At Home' initiative, reads out a chapter from 'Philosopher's Stone'

We had earlier reported about how JK Rowling's Wizarding World has roped in stars to read out chapters from the Harry Potter series for Potterheads amid lockdown. Stars like Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne and Dakota Fanning have already featured in this initiative called 'Harry Potter At Home' which is aimed to entertain children who are homebound due to lockdown.

On Thursday, Bollywood star Alia Bhatt too joined in to read a chapter the eighth chapter from the first book 'Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone'. Bhatt shared the video on her Instagram page and she was joined by Hollywood star Alec Baldwin who along with his young daughter Carmen also read out a portion of the chapter.

While sharing the 18-minute long clip, Alia revealed that she was introduced to the world of 'Harry Potter' two months back. "Two months ago Harry, Hogwarts, and the wizarding world walked into my life and almost immediately, in my heart. Somehow, when I was younger, life always intervened and I never quite got around to befriending the books. But. Just like magic, two months ago, I did. And, just like magic, 10 million points to Gryffindor!"

Alia had earlier shared as glimpse of the video and stated that some exciting was coming up.

Alia's mother Soni Razdan commented on her post, saying, "How wonderful."

The book reading sessions of 'Harry Potter At Home' began with Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular character on the screen in all eight films in the series. The second chapter was read by Noma Dumezweni, who features as Hermione Granger in the play 'Harry Potter And The Cursed Child'. Eddie Redmayne, who played Newt Scamander in Harry Potter spin-off series of 'Fantastic Beasts films'. The stars are currently reading chapters of the first book. More prominent faces are expected to feature in the coming weeks.
