Alec Baldwin will no longer play Batman's father in 'Joker'

Alec Baldwin will no longer be playing the role of Batman’s father, Thomas Wayne in Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ film. He announced exiting the project earlier yesterday. 

Alec confirmed the news of his exit to a US-based channel and said, “I’m no longer doing that movie,” and added, “I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”

This is happening just two days after the news of his joining the film started floating around. 

Thomas Wayne is a business tycoon in the comic-book lore who dies early as he and his wife, Martha are murdered in front of their son. This son as he grows up becomes the saviour of Gotham city and saves it from evil as Batman. 

While exiting the project, Alec first cited “scheduling issues” but on Wednesday dispelled any rumours on Twitter that his Thomas Wayne would be inspired by Donald Trump. He wrote: “Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque. That is not happening. Not. Happening.”

Alec has won an Emmy for portraying Trump on ‘Saturday Night Live’ last year.
