After Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt denies contesting Lok Sabha elections

As the election fever grips the nation with the general elections barely a few days away, Bollywood celebs Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan came out to deny their involvement with any political party or wanting to join politics anytime soon.

Sanjay Dutt reacted to contesting upcoming Lok Sabha polls as he extended his support to sister Priya Dutt. Sanjay took to Twitter and wrote: “The rumour about me contesting for the Loksabha elections is not true. I stand with my country and in full support for my sister @PriyaDutt_INC. I urge everyone to come out in maximum numbers and cast their vote for our nation!’’

Sanjay has previously been a part of the politics when was a Samajwadi Party candidate for the Lucknow Parliamentary constituency in 2009 but had to withdraw after the court refused to suspend his conviction under the Arms’ Act. He was later appointed as the general secretary for Samajwadi Party but Sanjay resigned from the post and subsequently quit the party.

Back then he said, “I learnt one thing...you got to go there and speak and promise so many things. If you do that then you have to fulfil so many things. I don’t think it ever happens. It is a different world. Who will give lecture and all I don’t know all that. I don’t know why I entered politics...what happened. I did a mistake. I don’t think any actor fits there completely.”

Last week, Salman also denied that he was campaigning for any party or was contesting at all as he wrote on Twitter: “Contrary to the rumours, I am not contesting elections nor campaigning for any political party….”

Meanwhile, Salman will be seen in ‘Bharat’ this June and he is also doing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Inshallah’ and a remake of Korean drama ‘Veteran’. Sanjay is a part of the upcoming film ‘Kalank’ and also has ‘Panipat’. 

Earlier, Akshay Kumar had also denied entering politics and told WION that he is only here to make good films.
