Aamir Khan admits he cries when his films don't work

We have all faced failures in our lives. We have cried over it and eventually learnt to pick up the pieces and move on. Much like us, Aamir Khan too has had his share of failures and just like us the actor admits that he has been upset when his projects have failed. 

He has given us blockbuster films year after year and is credited for always choosing the right scripts, but the actor admitted he has cried for films that did not do well. 

While speaking at the  Indian Screenwriters Conference the actor said that he has a curious mind and his biggest fear is not a failure but of not trying.

"I want to go with my conviction while making a film and if there is a loss, I will mourn that also. I cry when my films don't work," the 53-year-old actor said.

Aamir believes it is a coincidence that his films have been successful.

"I often get the credit... It is a coincidence to a certain extent that my films have been successful. The fact is that the story is written by a writer and then has grown organically."

He says filmmaking is a collaborative process and if any aspect -- be it the script, casting, location, sound design, editing or marketing -- fails, it will not work. For a film to be successful, it is important to hit the ball in the centre."

Khan also said that he believes in giving writers their due respect and rights and considers them an extremely important part of the filmmaking process. Having worked on the scripts of his films namely 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (1988), 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar' (1992) and 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke' (1993) has also helped him to understand the scriptwriting process and a writer’s psyche in a much better way, the actor confided.
He also added that a script undergoes an instrumental journey from the idea to the execution stage and can play a big role in altering one’s opinion about the same.
