Sensex ends 396 points higher as US hints on trade-war resolution

The BSE Sensex closed 396 points at 38,984 on Thursday while Nifty50 was up by 131 points at 11,571.

Equity indices opened in green during early hours on Thursday on the back of firm global cues as US President Donald Trump said the trade deal with China may happen soon.

At 10:15 am, the BSE S&P Sensex was up by 335 points at 38,928 while the Nifty 50 gained by 108 points to 11,548. 

Trump said on Wednesday a deal to end the trade war could happen sooner than people think and that the Chinese were making big agricultural purchases from the United States, including beef and pork.

Metals and auto stocks led gains on the domestic indexes. The Nifty metals subindex was up 4.16% and the auto index closed 2.53% higher.
