Petrol, diesel prices cut for sixth consecutive day

For the sixth consecutive day in a row, petrol and diesel prices were cut in the range of 07-10 paise across metro cities on Tuesday (October 23, 2018).

Today petrol is priced at Rs 81.34 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.10) and Rs 74.85 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.07), respectively in Delhi.

Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai are Rs 86.81 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.10) and Rs 78.46 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.08), respectively.

Currently, fuel rate is revised every single day based on global oil prices. State-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise fuel prices with effect from 6 am on a daily basis. 

The government allowed revision of fuel rates on a daily basis since mid-June last year to reflect changes in costs instantly. 

Yesterday, Petrol pumps in Delhi will remain shut today in protest against the Delhi government's refusal to reduce VAT on fuels. Along with the pump, CNG dispensing units will also remain shut.

There are about 400 petrol pumps in Delhi which also have linked compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and all of them will remain closed for nearly 24 hours in protest from 6 am onwards on October 22 and remain closed till 5 am on October 23, the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA) said in a statement.
