Now, Uttarakhand cuts VAT on petrol, diesel

On Tuesday, BJP-led governments in Gujarat and Maharashtra had slashed value added tax (VAT) prices on petrol and diesel.

After Gujarat, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh governments slashed VAT prices on petrol and diesel, Uttarakhand has become the fourth state in the country to cut VAT on fuel.

Uttarakhand finance minister Prakash Pant said his government has reduced cess on petrol and diesel by two per cent and slashed VAT by almost two per cent.

On Tuesday, BJP-led governments in Gujarat and Maharashtra had slashed value added tax (VAT) prices on petrol and diesel.

The Gujarat government had reduced VAT on petrol and diesel by 4 per cent. 

Soon after the announcement by the BJP government in Gujarat, CM Fadnavis-led BJP government in Maharashtra too slashed VAT prices on petrol and diesel. 

Maharashtra swiftly reduced VAT on prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2 and Re 1 respectively.

The government had last month brought down excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre.
