Indian markets on Monday opened in red with the BSE Sensex ruling 59.79 points lower at 36,167 at 9:26 am.

The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex recovered after falling marginally in early trade Monday amid mixed global trends.

The NSE barometer Nifty50 was trading at 10,882.

The Reserve Bank of India's policy meeting, macroeconomic data announcements and trends in crude oil prices are expected to be the key factors for market movements this week.

Last week, the 30-share BSE index slipped at 97.03 points in see-saw trade to close at 36,227.14, while the NSE Nifty dropped 47.10 points to 10,930.45.

The Sensex lost a whopping 2,417.93 points, or 6.26 per cent, in September -- its worst monthly show since February 2016.
