Global markets plunge over second wave of coronavirus in US; Sensex crashes over 1,000 points

Sensex plummeted over 1,000 points in opening trade on Friday with Nifty falling 274 after Wall Street stocks plunged over fears of another wave of coronavirus in the US.

Sensex fell 1,101.68 points to 32,436.69 and the Nifty fell 274 points to 9,628. The markets recovered to trade at 32,818.74, down 719 points.

Stocks in Asia plunged as well with stocks down in Hong Kong over one percent and Tokyo stocks were down 1.5 per cent and Shanghai shed 0.7 per cent.

In Sydney stocks were down 1.7 per cent, Seoul, Singapore and Jakarta all dropped more than two per cent and Taipei slipped 0.9 percent.

On Thursday, Wall Street street stocks collapsed with the Dow crashing 6.9 per cent and the S&P 500 sliding 5.9 per cent with the Nasdaq going down 5.3 per cent.
