In an innovative move to modernise restaurant, a restaurant owner from South India, Tamil Nadu has employed robots to serve food to the customers, a media report stated.

A Chinese restaurant in Chennai, located near the Old Mahabalipuram Road, was known for the authentic Chinese food. However, the restaurant is now popular for "one-of-a-kind" waiters.

It has four robots who sever food to the customers.

The owner of the restaurant, Venkatesh, is a former IT employee. He has founded the restaurant in collaboration with another friend.

Venkatesh has imported four robots from China. Each of different colours pink, red, purple and blue.

He said that it took him three months to get the robots from China. It also included getting permissions from the customs department.

Every table in the restaurant has a tablet. The customers place their order by entering it into the tablet. The order reaches the cook in the kitchen who then sends it via robots.

The robots are also designed to understand Tamil.

The restaurant also has trained people to program the robots.

The owner of the restaurant said that the trend of robots restaurants is quite usual in Japan, Bangladesh and Western Countries too.

India already showcased country made robot "Mitra" in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 organised in Hyderabad
