Petrol, diesel prices on rise for third straight day

The mounting fuel prices come as a result of rising global crude oil prices and high excise duty on transportation fuel in the country.

Diesel prices registered a fresh high in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata selling at Rs 69.61, Rs 73.90, Rs 73.54 and Rs 72.46 per litre respectively.

Petrol is selling at Rs 78.05 per litre in Delhi, at Rs 85.47 and Rs 80.98 per litre in Mumbai and Kolkata respectively. In Chennai, petrol on Tuesday will be sold for Rs 81.09 per litre. 

According to reports, fuel prices shot up on the third consecutive day on Tuesday. 

On Monday, diesel prices were recorded at Rs 69.46 per litre in Delhi, Rs 73.74 in Mumbai, Rs 72.31 per litre in Kolkata and Rs 73.38 for a litre in Chennai. 

Petrol price per litre in Delhi on Monday shot up to Rs 77.91. For Mumbai, petrol per litre was registered at Rs 85.33, Rs 80.91 in Kolkata and Rs 80.94 per litre in Chennai.
